Don't Bug Us! We're Buzzy Learning New Signs!
Kayla Flaherty was born and raised in Blacksburg, Virginia. She currently resides in Woodbridge, Virginia with her husband, Peter; 1-year old daughter, Kerrigan; and a 4-year-old labradoodle, Cassie. Kayla is a teacher for the deaf/hard of hearing for Fairfax County Public Schools. This is her 7th year teaching. Kayla uses both spoken English and American Sign Language to communicate with her family and friends. She is a bilateral cochlear implant user. Kayla enjoys creating materials for teaching that include pictures and sign language. She also enjoys signing songs and is teaching her little one sign language to help with communication in the home. Kayla’s favorite bugs are butterflies, dragonflies, and ladybugs.
