The overall mission of the Kuhar Vegetable Insect Pest Research Lab is to develop, evaluate, and help implement sound integrated pest management practices on vegetable crops, which can enhance the profitability and sustainability of agriculture and improve food and environmental quality.

Each year we conduct many applied field experiments in locations throughout Virginia, including Kentland Research Farm, the Eastern Shore Agricultural Research and Extension Center (AREC), the Hampton Roads AREC, and other farms throughout the Commonwealth. The goals of most of these research projects are to answer practical pest management questions for vegetable growers in the state. The knowledge gained from these investigations into the biology and control of arthropod pests is used to develop and deliver useful pest management information to agricultural clientele and the scientific community.
