Questionnaires on pest control and fertilizing practices in and around the home were submitted to the following audiences:

 Homeowners
Includes those who rent as well as residents of trailers, apartments, etc. Slightly less than two thousand (1960) questionnaires were submitted to Virginia residents by mail. A postage-free reply envelope was provided with each mailing.

 Certified Pesticide Applicators
Includes only applicators providing services or recommendations to residential areas. Questionnaires were distributed to applicators at pesticide recertification training sessions. Questionnaires were returned to the recertification course sponsor before leaving the training session.

VCE Horticulture Agents and MG Coordinators
Questionnaires sent to Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Horticulture agents and Master Gardener (MG) coordinators sought the educated opinion of VCE educators on the pest control and fertilizing practices of their homeowners constituents. Agents and coordinators were also asked to identify their most valued and needed IPM education resources.

 Master Gardener Volunteers
Six hundred (600) Master Gardener volunteers were sent questionnaires seeking their educated opinion on the pest control and fertilizing practices and attitudes of the homeowners in their city or county. Volunteers were also asked to identify the education tools they most needed to educate homeowners on IPM and related water quality issues.
